This was the story of Akbar’s
childhood. Akbar, my second child, at 5 still couldn’t spell ‘R’ fluently. His sister
Lia often disturbed and trained him to spell contained ‘R’ words. His fovorite
word to spell was ‘stroberry’. Lia trained him to spell stroberry again and
again.
One afternoon while I was
ironing Akbar came close to me,
Akbar : “Mommy..now I can spell ‘R’ fluently”..
Mommy: “Are you? Let mommy knows...”
Akbar : “Ok listen carefully
mommy...stobei....see...stobei....”
What I had listened was the
word ‘stobei’ without R.. I looked at
him.
Akbar : “See mommy...I can spell
it...stobei...stobei...stooobei..stooooobei..”
His mouth was ‘super
monyong’. I was speechless, but smiled widely. He had been trained and had practiced so
hard. I would not say any comments that made him disappointed. His best effords
had to be appreciated. Felt blessed, I kissed Akbar’s hair.....
Mommy: “Good job mas Akbar...good job...”
Akbar: “Thank you mommy....stoooobei.....stooobei.....”
Akbar run, left me stunned,
shaked my head and then smiled widely...
